Pet health insurance policy definition of "pre-existing condition"
Any Condition for which a Veterinarian provided medical advice, the Pet received treatment for, or the Pet displayed signs or symptoms consistent with the stated Condition prior to Policy Effective Date or during any Waiting Period.
What is a Pre-existing Condition?
A pre-existing condition is a medical illness or injury that your pet had, or shown signs or symptoms of, before you purchased a pet insurance policy or during the waiting periods. Conditions like diabetes, cancer, hip dysplasia, and chronic ear infections may be examples of pre-existing health conditions.
Does that mean my pet is ineligible for all coverage?
Nope! It just means that your pet will not be covered for that particular condition.
However, if your pet has suffered any of the below pre-existing illnesses, they will only be eligible for an Accident Only plan.
- Canine: Addison’s Disease, Cushing’s Disease, Diabetes and/or Cancer.
- Feline: Diabetes, Feline Leukemia Virus (FELV), Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV), and/or Cancer.
